Abstract
This chapter first reviews the history of Luria's assessment techniques and contrasts them to the fixed-battery approach and discusses some of the earlier debate between the two approaches. The chapter then describes Luria's methods for examining executive control skills. Next, the chapter describes in detail a novel technique for assessing executive control skills called The Executive Control Battery (ECB) that melds the essence of Lurian techniques into a more structured psychometric approach. The chapter finally reviews some of the initial normative data of ECB.
