Abstract

We have cloned cDNAs from a novel gene designated Unp. Unp cDNAs contain a large open reading frame that would encode a protein of 89 kDa. The predicted protein contains a putative nuclear localization signal, as well as consensus sequences for binding to the retinoblas-toma gene product. The latter elements are contained within a region having strong similarity to the human tre oncogene. We have localized the Unp gene to mouse chromosome 9 in a region of homology with human chromosome 3p. This region has been implicated in a number of human malignancies.
