Abstract
A mathematical model of the solid mechanics of the small intestine is presented. This theoretical study is an improvement of a study already done on the mechanics of intestinal contraction where the axial fibres were omitted (Ohayon et al., 1994). Such an approach could explain the mechanical interaction between longitudinal and circular muscle during intestinal contraction.
