Abstract

The comparison of the optical gain and emission spectra over a range of range of pumping levels and temperatures in semiconductor lasers is studied. The thermodynamical relationship is used to transform the measured emission spectra into optical gain. The spontaneous emission spectra were shown for different drive currents, and they were transformed to the material gain spectra, using mathematical models.
