Abstract

This study presents results which describe parametrically the behavior of oscillating flow past a circular cylinder. The oscillating flow results are obtained by a change of reference frame from the actual physical arrangement of an oscillating cylinder. The results presented here go a step further than the traditional force-coefficient period-parameter results in describing wave forces. The correlation is done with the period parameter as one of two parameters affecting the flow. In this manner, the variation of the force coefficient with instantaneous Reynolds number can be determined with period parameter also as a variable.
