N2 - The Beat Goes On is a community choir project that aims to provide a space for persons living with dementia, their caregivers and community members at large to socialize, grieve, grow, and sing. In this paper, we took a look at existing research on heart rate as well as the benefits of joining choir performances. We highlighted one of the past artistic endeavors that led us to consider the side of passive interaction in relation to immersive experience. We described our current setup and protocol for the community choir, the make-up of the choir, the types of data we collect, the rationale behind the hardware selection process, and how biosignals are gathered by modifying comparatively affordable off the-shelf hardware. We also propose two immersive experiences using the hardware we have at hand: One being a retrospective review of data we have gathered to create an interactive experience with Ambisonics soundscape that brings the emotional response of the individual choir singers into foreground. The other, an idea of how we can incorporate emotional response from the audience during a live choir performance so we can highlight the emotional dynamics between the choir and the audience without active interaction from the audience.
