Abstract

After incubation of testosterone, 18-hydroxytestosterone and 5α-dihydrotestosterone with rat liver microsomes 17β,18-dihydroxy-5α-androstan-3-one, 5α-androstane-3α,17β,18-triol and 5α-androstane-3β,17β,18-triol have been isolated and characterized by thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography and by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Furthermore, after incubation of 5α-dihydrotestosterone two androstanetetrols were isolated, the mass spectrometric characteristics of which indicate the presence of an 18-hydroxyl group.
