Abstract

The paper presents two commonly used methods of implementing spectral broadening in the calculation of the absorption and spontaneous emissions. The first method involve broadening of the individual electron and hole energy states, while the second one involve broadening of the photo density. It will be shown that these methods result to incorrect shapes for the absorption and emission spectra.
