Solvent and substituent effects in aromatic carbonyl compounds: The triplet state of flavone

Abstract

The internal "heavy atom" effect has been used to identify the configuration of the lowest triplet state of flavone as π,π* with some n,π* character. These results are in contrast to the structurally similar xanthones.
