Abstract
The reconnection process of two vortex filaments is analyzed using the viscous vorticity equation and several assumptions. Analysis is confined to a local region where the interaction takes place, and the velocity field is expanded in polynomials. The expansion coefficients are functions of time, and their behavior is obtained from the vorticity equation. The significance of this phenomenon in aeroacoustic noise generation is discussed.
