Abstract

A case is reported of a twenty-one year old white Puerto Rican man, known to have schistosomiasis since childhood. The clinical picture presented was that of cor pulmonale. Pulmonary function was found to be normal. Cardiac catheterization and venous angiocardiography disclosed findings consistent with an obstructive lesion of the pulmonary vasculature. Lung biopsy and finally postmortem examination established the diagnosis.
