Abstract

Mass cytometry technologies enable using multiple cellular biomarkers to characterize cell phenotypes and functional states at the single cell level. Cytometry by time-of-flight (CyTOF®) and Imaging Mass Cytometry™ (IMC™) have seen increasing applications in medical research from across fundamental, translational, and (pre-)clinical studies. This chapter overviews the development of mass cytometry technologies and discusses the workflows, analytical approaches as well as emerging applications.
