Abstract

Subsequently, primary chemotherapy was used for treatment of women with large but operable breast cancers who would otherwise have needed mastectomy as surgical treatment. One of the most important studies to demonstrate the feasibility of this approach was conducted in Milan by Bonnadonna et al. (4) and they reported that 81% of responders were eligible to be treated with BCS.
