Abstract

• Corneal limbus stem cells are the source of corneal epithelial renewal and they help maintain the integrity of cornea. Phenotype represents the outward manifestation of cells including cellular forms and structures, molecular and atomic activity, metabolism and behaviors. Observation and analysis of the phenotypes are closely associated with cell culture in vitro identification, transplantation and function-building after transplantation. The major phenotypes of corneal limbal stem cells are summarized and prospelts of the research are viewed in this paper.
