Abstract

Patellar resurfacing is a controversial topic in orthopedic surgery. Recommendations and practices vary from no initial resurfacing to resurfacing as standard, to performing selective patellar resurfacing. Understanding indications and complications associated with the surgical decision to resurface the patella is important for patient counseling and monitoring postoperatively. A technique for cemented patellar resurfacing is presented.
