Abstract
A class of signaling schemes for multiple antennas that exhibited an identical asymptotic outage probability decay given by maximum spatial diversity available in the system was characterized. The class included commonly used spatial power allocation and beamforming schemes derived for varying amount of channel information at the transmitter and the receiver. The techniques developed provided an easy way to evaluate the diversity order of many schemes with maximum diversity. The results helped in understanding tradeoff between extent of channel information, outage performance and complexity of schemes.
