Abstract
The entropy of mixing of a binary mixture of hard spheres at constant pressure is computed as a function of the diameter ratio on the basis of the Mansoori-Carnahan-Starling equation of state. The Flory-Huggins form for the entropy of mixing is a poor approximation and becomes worse for increasing values of the diameter ratio. The ideal gas form is closer to the hard sphere result.
