Abstract
Well-circumscribed orbital mass or several masses. May mimic a benign tumor. Affinity to extraocular muscles; however, all orbital compartments can be involved: the intraconal space, extraconal space, the lacrimal sac, and along the course of orbital veins. Often a discrete ovoid mass within the EOM may be seen. T1 heterogenous to high intensity signal. Areas of bright signal may represent melanin and/or hemorrhage. Low intensity signal on T2 WI. Metastatic mass is contrast enhancing and usually FDG-avid. Diffusion studies with low ADC may aid diagnosis.
