Abstract

Lymphoepithelioma is an undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma, with prominent lymphocytic infiltrate associated with the Epstein-Barr virus. Microscopically identical tumors have been described in different organs, including the skin, under the term «lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma of the skin». The genome of the EBV has been demonstrated also in other sites, but not the few studied cutaneous cases. We report a new case of cutaneous lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma, with similar clinical and evolutive characteristics to those previously reported. The histopathological findings on optic, ultrastructural and immmunohistochemical studies are presented. The in situ hybridization for EBV was negative.
