Abstract

α-Fetoprotein (AFP), a surveillance biomarker of liver cancer, was directly detected via immunoassay at a singlemolecule level using in situ atomic force microscopy (AFM). AFM size measurements confirmed the successful capture of single AFP molecules by monoclonal antibody molecules on a one-to-one basis.
