High temperature gain measurements in optically pumped ZnCdSe-ZnSe quantum wells

Abstract

The authors have measured gain spectra in an optically pumped Zn0.72Cd0.28SeZnSe multiple quantum well sample. The gain was calculated including many-body affects such as spectral broadening and Coulomb enhancement. Excellent agreement between model and experiment is found, although the high carrier temperature above threshold reduces the expected Coulomb enhancement of the gain in II-VI quantum well lasers.
