note = "Funding Information: Forty-six pediatric liver transplantations were performed between March 1984 and March 1987 at University of California, Los Angeles, Medical Center. We assessed the growth of 29 pediatric patients who had undergone OLT, with a follow-up period of 6 to 34 months (mean 13.9 months). Patients who died or had a follow-up period <6 months were excluded. Mean age at the time of transplantation was 5.8 years (range 7 months to 16 years). Sixteen patients were female. There were 14 white, seven Hispanic, five Oriental, and three black patients. Their diagnoses were biliary atresia (six patients), a-1-antitrypsin deficiency (six patients), familial cholestasis (three patients), fulminant hepatitis (two patients), idiopathic cirrhosis (two patients), and chronic active hepatitis (one patient). Three patients had tumors (one metastatic leiomyosarcoma of the stomach, one hepatoblastoma, and one hemangioendothelioma). One patient had undergone two transplants and one had undergone three.
