Abstract
A 5-year-old boy had serologic evidence of a mycoplasmal infection and bacteriologic confirmation of a group A streptococcal empyema. Although rare, bacterial complications may occur in association with mycoplasmal infection and should be suspected if there is a failure to respond to appropriate therapy.
