General neurosurgery exam

Jonathan J. Lee, Gavin W. Britz

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This chapter details the general neurosurgery exam and how to apply the exam in a telecommunication setting. Although the neurosurgical exam requires hands-on interaction for some sections, a skilled and resourceful clinician can adapt to formulate an exam over a virtual interaction. The chapter will touch on the following aspects of the general neurosurgical exam: introductory interview questions, mental status, the cranial nerve exam, the strength exam, special reflexes, the sensory exam, and coordination.
