Abstract

A study was conducted on the frequency entrainment for micromechanical oscillator. A small pilot signal was applied either as an inertial drive at the natural frequency of the micromechanical resonators or by modulating the stiffness of the oscillator at double the natural frequency. It was found that the entrainment zone was hysteretic and the width was 4% of the natural frequency of the resonator.
