Abstract
The application of numerical techniques to the analysis of flexible dams made of rubber textile composites is described. This involves a geometrically nonlinear problem of fluid structure interaction where the structural shape is load dependent and the load is deformation dependent. The problem is solved by a geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis of rubber membranes within a total Lagrangian framework. Tension rods stiffening the inflated dams are also considered. Examples relating to structures in marine environments are shown. (A)
