Abstract

Intracranial occlusive disease can lead to ischemic stroke and result in devastating neurological deficits. This broad range of pathologies can be caused by embolic phenomenon, intracranial atherosclerosis, or vasoconstriction and can be acute or chronic in nature. Over the past few decades, endovascular therapeutic strategies have emerged as safe and effective options for intracranial occlusion. This chapter reviews the various causes of intracranial occlusive disease and the various endovascular techniques used in treatment.
