Abstract
The adhesive behavior of a thin infinitely long elastic beam resting over a wavy rigid foundation with wavelength λ was studied. It was observed that the adhesive strength was influenced by the system geometry and its physical properties. Three dimensionless parameters were found to govern the evolution of the system. The results show that the effect of surface waviness could be beneficial in increasing the adhesive strength of the system.
