Abstract
The effect of the Ga-doping on the growth mecchanism and superconducting properties of whiskers in the BiSrCaCu2GaxOy system prepared by annealing a glassy melt-quenched plate under flowing oxygen is described. The thermal behaviour of the glassy samples was found to be dependent on the Ga concentration; whiskers of BSCCO 2212 with a diamagnetic onset temperature Tc,on=76 K, were grown for x=0.6 after annealing at 855°C.
