Abstract

Treatment of distal radius fractures has evolved to more frequent operative treatment and from pin and external fixation to fracture-specific plating systems, and volar plating. Loosening or breakage of fixation and loss of alignment of distal radius fractures are often multifactorial and typically include patient, fracture-specific, and biomechanical considerations. Revision surgery targets the underlying mode of failure and seeks to augment the fixation, biology, or both.
