Abstract
We report an unusual cluster of invasive group A Streptococcus (GAS) infections in six pediatric patients and demonstrate that the strains were derived from diverse genetic backgrounds, confirming the occurrence of a community cluster rather than a clonal outbreak. Whole genome sequencing provided a rapid and comprehensive view of GAS genotypes, and helped guide our institutional response and public health maneuvers.
