Abstract

Cardiac rehabilitation has been performed at The Methodist Hospital since 1973. It began as a phase II exercise program, and in 1976 a phase III program was added. With a gift from the Sid W. Richardson Foundation, The Methodist Hospital built the Sid W. Richardson Institute for Preventive Medicine in 1980. Today, cardiac rehabiliation at the Institute includes the following programs: Cardiac Exercise Program (phases II and III), Comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, Intensive Residential Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, and Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
