Abstract

With the growing awareness of the interrelationships among health, aging, and environment, the Environmental Protection Agency and several partners established the Building Health Communities for Active Aging National Recognition Program. This article describes the awards program and the award-winning organizations that demonstrate model activities and the utility of bringing together "smart growth" and active aging.
