Abstract
After incubation of testosterone with 105 000 X g microsomes of human foetal liver, a C19 steroid with a 3‐oxo‐Δ4‐structure was isolated by ascending one‐dimensional thin‐layer chromatography. Gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry revealed that the compound was identical with 18‐hydroxytestosterone. The significance of this finding in relation to earlier reports of 18‐hydroxylated steroids in human urine is discussed.
