Abstract

As the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine increases, the field of endoscopy is uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of advancement. Modern-day artificial intelligence is based on neural networks, which have the ability to rapidly process an enormous amount of data. With high-definition endoscopes and advanced imaging techniques, there is a vast amount of data available to train AI algorithms to assist the clinician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The following is an overview of the development of AI and its current and future uses in the field of endoscopy.
