Abstract
This essay reviews Richard Zaner's Troubled Voices, a philosopher's reflection on his work as a clinical ethicist at a major medical center. Through stories of sickness and illness and the dilemmas posed by infirmity, Zaner considers principal issues in clinical ethics and the philosopher's place at the bedside.
