Abstract

A consolidation model is presented for the investigation of the surface subsidence of compacting water-drive gas reservoirs. The method also takes into account the eventual consolidation of the material above and/or below the reservoir, which is neglected in the normally used poroelasticity theory. Heterogeneity, nonlinear constitutive relationships for the soil and several aquifers being exploited simultaneously can also be taken into account. A number of examples are investigated which examine the importance of different geometric and material parameters. (A)
