Yuvanesh Vedaraju is a data scientist and faculty member at the Houston Methodist Academic Institute, where he specializes in genomic data science, bioinformatics, and clinical informatics. He earned his Master of Science in Information Systems with a focus on Data Science from The University of Texas at Dallas in 2017.
Mr. Vedaraju's professional experience spans translational research in clinical oncology and precision medicine. Prior to joining Houston Methodist in 2022, he served as a Statistical Analyst at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he conducted clinical research on pediatric cancer and COVID-19 outcomes, and as a Senior Data Scientist at Lantern Pharma, applying machine learning to drug discovery and patient stratification.
Active in the scientific community, Mr. Vedaraju serves as an Editorial Fellow for the Journal of Clinical Oncology and as a peer reviewer for leading academic journals. He is an active member of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Research interests
Mr. Vedaraju’s clinical research interests center on translating advanced data science and bioinformatics into actionable clinical diagnostics. He focuses on developing and implementing robust computational pipelines and infrastructure to automate the analysis and interpretation of genomic sequencing data within clinical workflows. His work streamlines the identification of cancer-causing variants and mutations, ensuring that complex genomic results are accurately filtered and structured for clinical decision-making.
