Dr. Miller graduated first in her class and received her MD degree with highest honors (summa cum laude) in July 2009 from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, South Dakota. She then completed a clinical and anatomic pathology residency (2010-2013), serving as the chief resident in 2013, and continued as the administrative chief resident (Jan-Jun 2014) at the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. In July 2014, she began a hematopathology fellowship in the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital, and upon completion, was appointed staff pathologist in our department in July 2016.
Dr. Miller is the recipient of several awards including the Loren H. Amundson Award (2009) presented to the outgoing Alpha Omega Alpha chapter president at the University of South Dakota, the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement (2009) awarded by the American Medical Women’s Association, and Governor Dennis Daugaard Teaching Award (2013), among many others. Dr. Miller is currently a section editor in hematopathology for the journal Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She also contributed to the hematopathology section of CytoAtlas, an iPhone/iPad-based application for cytopathology education. Dr. Miller is actively involved in several professional societies such as the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Texas Society of Pathologists, the College of American Pathologists, the American Society of Hematology, and the Society of Hematopathology. Dr. Miller has a passion for educating trainees and participates in collaborative research with trainees and faculty in the department. She has presented her research at local, national, and international conferences.
