Dr. Sadhna Dhingra is a Professor of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist Academic Institute and Weill Cornell Medical College, and serves as Associate Director of Surgical Pathology at Houston Methodist Hospital. She is a subspecialty surgical pathologist with expertise in gastrointestinal, hepatic, pancreatobiliary, transplant, and renal pathology.
Dr. Dhingra received her medical degree from Government Medical College, Amritsar, India, and completed pathology residency training at King George Medical College. She pursued advanced subspecialty training in renal and surgical pathology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. After relocating to the United States, she completed residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, followed by fellowships in surgical pathology at Houston Methodist Hospital and gastrointestinal pathology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
She began her academic career at McGovern Medical School and subsequently joined Baylor College of Medicine, where she was promoted to Associate Professor and served as Section Head for Adult GI/Liver Pathology from 2018 to 2021. In 2023, Dr. Dhingra joined the Houston Methodist Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine, where she currently holds a leadership role in surgical pathology and directs system-wide liver pathology services.
Research interests
Dr. Dhingra’s clinical and academic work focuses on complex diagnostic surgical pathology, with particular emphasis on clinicopathologic correlation, diagnostic reproducibility, and quality in subspecialty practice. Her translational research integrates clinical pathology with emerging technologies aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. She has served as a co-investigator on multiple National Institutes of Health–funded research projects and collaborates extensively with multidisciplinary clinical and scientific teams.
In addition to her clinical and research activities, Dr. Dhingra is deeply committed to education and professional service. She is actively involved in resident and fellow training and has held multiple leadership roles within regional and national pathology organizations. She is a Past President of the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists (2023–2024), currently serves as Vice President of the Texas Society of Pathologists (2026–2027), and holds leadership positions within the Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society.
