Wickramasinghe earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University, followed by his medical degree and PhD from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine at the Osler Medical Service of Johns Hopkins Hospital. He later completed fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine, interventional cardiology and structural heart disease at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Wickramasinghe has a special interest in coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and in structural heart disease interventions. He also specializes in nuclear cardiology and echocardiography in addition to interventional cardiology.

“Since its first open-heart surgery in 2007, the Houston Methodist Heart & Vascular Center at Sugar Land has developed a much-deserved reputation for leading-edge cardiovascular care,” said Wickramasinghe. “The range of advanced cardiovascular procedures available at Houston Methodist Sugar Land is one of the major reasons the hospital has developed into a regional medical center, expanding its service area to treat patients from both Fort Bend and surrounding communities.
