Personal profile
Dr. Nguyen is Vice Chair of the Center for Connected Care – Implementation and Innovation Research (CCCII-R), an Emergency Medicine physician, and the Medical Director of Virtual Urgent Care at Houston Methodist. In her leadership role, she has built a robust research portfolio in digital health, contributing to peer-reviewed publications, national abstracts, and conference presentations that advance the science of technology-enabled care delivery. Her work spans digital health innovation, machine learning, and remote patient monitoring, with a focus on developing best practices and shaping future care models.
In recognition of her leadership, Dr. Nguyen was awarded the 2025 Dyer Fellowship by the Houston Methodist Research Institute. Her Dyer Fellowship project builds on her successful implementation of a system-wide ED transitions of care program that utilized Houston Methodist’s Virtual Urgent Care to significantly reduce ED readmissions through proactive digital follow-up. She is now expanding this approach by incorporating remote patient monitoring to follow high-risk patients with chronic disease after hospital and ED discharge. This enhanced model aims to identify early signs of clinical deterioration, reduce 30- and 90-day readmissions, and improve chronic disease management.
Beyond digital health, Dr. Nguyen has led impactful emergency medicine research, including the design and implementation of a system-wide rabies post-exposure prophylaxis workflow that improved patient safety and resulted in multiple publications.
Grounded in clinical expertise across emergency, acute, and critical care, Dr. Nguyen drives healthcare transformation by leading cross-disciplinary initiatives that align clinicians, administrators, and technology leaders. She is also committed to mentorship and education, supporting the development of the next generation of physician-innovators.
