Dr. Nasir is a native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of Houston. He completed his medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where he graduated with honors in 1986. He completed his residency in internal medicine in Dallas at the UT affiliated Hospitals and then returned to Houston in 1989 to complete his Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology training. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Nasir has been in practice at the Methodist Hospital since 1992. He has been Medical Director of the Electrophysiology Lab since 2004 and was appointed Director of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Services in 2006. Along with Dr. Valderrabano they are co-Directors of the Heart Rhythm Treatment Service (HEARTS) at the Methodist Debakey Heart Center which was established in 2007.
Dr. Nasir´s clinical interests are in device therapy for prevention of sudden death and ablative therapies for cardiac rhythm disorders. He has been involved in numerous clinical trials at the Methodist Hospital expanding the base of scientific knowledge in the arena of cardiac rhythm disorders and has been Principal or Co-investigator in several recent trials examining ablation techniques for therapy of atrial fibrillation including the use of cryotherapy for therapy of Afib and along with Dr. Valdarabanno, laser balloon therapy for treatment of atrial fibrillation.
