Dr. Blackburn graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 at University of Florida Health Jacksonville and PGY2 in Critical Care at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. After residency she became the ICU Clinical Pharmacist at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake and was promoted to Clinical Pharmacy Manager. She enjoyed working with a team of over 30 pharmacists to develop and expand the clinical pharmacy services in addition to implementing the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program and serving as the residency program director. Dr. Blackburn is committed to ongoing professionalism with involvement in both health-system pharmacy and critical care organizations. She served on the Board of Directors in multiple roles including as president for both the Gulf Coast Society of Health-System Pharmacists from 2016 through 2022 and the Society of Critical Care Medicine - Texas Chapter from 2021 through 2026. She is privileged to be the current Drug Information and Formulary Management Pharmacy Administrative Specialist for Houston Methodist where she coordinates the Medication Use and Formulary Evaluation Committee and precepts pharmacy residents and interns. Dr. Blackburn is a member of the Houston Methodist Green ICU Task Force and an inaugural member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Environmental Sustainability in the ICU Task Force where passionate individuals are bringing awareness to healthcare’s environmental impact and working towards sustainable solutions.
Dr. Blackburn is involved in research focusing on clinical pharmacy services and outcomes in addition to sustainability efforts to minimize the negative environmental impacts of healthcare delivery while providing high quality care.
